Pardon, May I Borrow Some of Your Gut Bacteria?

Trillions of bacteria live in our guts… helping with digestion and such.  It’s not pleasant to think about, but it’s reality.

Well a new study shows gut bacteria from thin humans can slim mice down.

They found pairs of human twins in which one was obese and the other was lean.  They transferred gut bacteria from these twins into mice and watched what happened.  The mice with bacteria from overweight twins became fat…and those that got bacteria from thin twins stayed lean.

So, what does this mean?  Should we start asking our thinner friends if we can borrow some of their gut bacteria?  If I was thinner, I’d sell mine.
